The thirteen strong team of Y8 and Y9 students competed in the regional round of the Magistrate's Court Mock Trial Competition at Teesside Magistrates Court on the morning of Saturday 10th March.
The LJS team for the prosecution played in round 1 against Wyvern Academy and put in a very strong performance with the verdict going in favour of LJS. Round 2 saw LJS defence team up against Egglescliffe School and, despite an impressive performance, the verdict when against LJS. Scoring wasn't just based on outcomes, and each member of the team could earn up to 10 individual points in addition to a whole team score out of 10.
Unfortunately LJS didn't progress through to the next stage of the competition, but gave the eventual winners Egglescliffe a good contest in court with the verdict proving controversial with those supporting from the public gallery!
Every single student was incredible in their effort and contribution to the team and should be thoroughly proud of their achievements in what is the school's first ever entry into the competition.
Outstanding ambassadors for Laurence Jackson School.
