Keira B in year 7 has recently won the English School’s Boxing Championship title in the Female 35Kg division! She has also been invited to an England training camp on 29th July. What a fantastic achievement!

The Making Opportunities Conference was a three-day event in October and June in Year 10, when the normal school timetable was suspended.

The conference has been designed to develop job application and interview skills, and to deliver careers information, with the day being supported by various external companies and independent careers service.

During the day students were encouraged to identify their personal skills and qualities, given activities to develop their self-confidence and practical job hunting skills. Students were also given advice on interview techniques and experience of a mock interview with an external provider.

12 of our year 10 students completed their Silver DofE Expedition at the weekend.

Students walked from Roseberry Topping to Commondale on day 1. On day 2 students walked from Commondale to Lealholm in soaring temperatures but managed to complete the day in good spirits knowing that an ice cream was waiting for them.

We also managed to stream the England game on the iPad for students to watch. On day 3 students walked to their finish at Grosmont.

Once again a big thank you to Mr Weatherald, Miss Sadler and Miss Street for giving up their weekend to support this event.
