They select students who are keen to develop their Art and Design skills and have a real interest in the subject. This year LJS year 10 students Olivia G, Leah G, Keira J, Laura K, Elsie L and Ellie W were successful in gaining places and attend CCAD to participate in events every Saturday during term time throughout the whole academic year.
During the sessions students experience working within a Further Education environment and working alongside guest artists and designers and are given the opportunity to produce a variety of pieces in different materials.
The National Saturday Club nurtures talent, builds confidence and raises aspirations. It gives students an insight into studying at college or university and an understanding of careers in the creative industries.
Now in its seventh year, the Saturday Club runs in 47 locations across the UK, in colleges, universities and at the Victoria and Albert Museum. As well as over 100 hours of specialist tuition, students also benefit from visits to museums and galleries, Master classes from leading art and design practitioners and an exhibition of their work in London’s Somerset house.
