STEM Challenge Day

On Friday 11 January I had the pleasure of taking Qin Y and James L to the University of Sheffield for the North/North East Final of the STEM Challenge Day.

Their team had progressed through to this final after winning the regional heat at Teesside University last academic year. The task was based around Computer Science and consisted of programming code into a robot using JavaScript for it to be able to successfully navigate a maze.

The team from Teesside finish in 3rd place meaning Qin and James have trophies and certificates to keep. This was a fantastic opportunity for them to visit a Russell Group University and use world class facilities working with lecturers and students from the university. Qin and James performed exceptionally well and should be proud of their achievements – both are outstanding ambassadors for Laurence Jackson School.
