Home School Agreement

As a school, we aim to provide a positive, aspirational learning environment to support all of our students to improve their life chances.  In order to achieve this, we need to work in partnership with parents, students and governors and trust that we will all strive to meet high standards and expectations.  We consider that the following statements accurately reflect that ambition.

As a parent, I will:

  • Take an active interest in all aspects of my child’s school life
  • Support the school’s policy on uniform, homework, standards and expectations, provide suitable working facilities at home and encourage my child to make the required effort
  • Ensure that my child:
    • attends school regularly and punctually
    • is properly equipped with a minimum of a bag in which to carry books and kit, a pen, a pencil, a ruler, a calculator and a planner
    • travels to and from school in a sensible, orderly manner
  • Communicate to school all relevant information which may affect my child’s work, behaviour or attendance
  • Notify the school if, for any reason, my child cannot attend
  • Encourage my child to follow the school’s expectations and anti-bullying policy
  • Support the school’s rewards and consequences and any action taken by the school
  • Take responsibility/monitor my child when they use social networking sites such as Facebook
  • Attend parents’ evenings and other meetings at which my presence is required
  • Avoid taking holidays during term time.  All absence from school has a detrimental effect on a student’s learning

As a student I will:

  1. Act and move sensibly in and around school
  2. Comply with all of our Gold Standard Expectations, by being Smart, Punctual, Organised, Respectful and a Team player
  3. Be polite and respectful at all times, never being unkind or humiliating others verbally or physically
  4. Adopt all of our respect ‘pillars’ by respecting myself, other students, all adults, school property, the local community and wider environment
  5. Follow school uniform regulations
  6. Take care of my own property and not mistreat that of others
  7. Always respect other students’ right to learn
  8. Always be the best I can be
  9. Leave mobile phones and MP3 players etc switched off in bags at all times in school buildings
  10. Not bring to school smoking materials, alcohol, drugs and/or anything that might endanger another person
  11. Aspire to be an outstanding ambassador for my family, my locality and LJS
