Student Voice

Student Voice:

Each form has two representatives on Student Voice (Student Council), these are decided at the beginning of the school year as a vote in form.  Form reps attend lunch time meetings once a half term where they share the views and raise issues that have come from other members of the form.  These representatives then feedback ideas and projects that are discussed in the meeting with the rest of their form.  At Laurence Jackson School there are a number of ways in which students can raise any issues, concerns or ideas that they have, these are:

  • Via the form Student Voice Reps
  • Seeing Mrs Spencer (Director of Student Voice and Empowerment) in L3
  • Emailing Mrs Spencer on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

After feedback from student voice in April 2016 each year group fundraises throughout the year for a Year Group charity.  2018/19 will be the third year that each year group have had their own charity.  The charities chosen vary each year in line with student feedback.

The charities for 2018/19 are:

Year 7: Daisy Chain

Year 8: Maxi’s Mates

Year 9: Zoë’s Place

Year 10: Teenage Cancer Trust

Year 11: Great North Air Ambulance

Throughout the year the school will also support other events such as Children in Need, Comic Relief, Macmillan Coffee Morning, Race for Life and The Rotary Club’s Shoe Box Appeal.
